Every week, I will post some prompts for us to consider. There are several types of prompts: challenges, short phrases, one word, images, quotes, poetic forms, or even Hugo Poems (you are given 12 words and must use them in a poem). These are the kinds I will post here, for you to use as you will. No pressure, only prompts.
These weekly prompts are chosen randomly from a collection I have gathered from many sources.
Week One:
* crisis
* dark clouds
* junk, antiques, old cars, pawned items
* Make a list of ten things/images you have seen in the past 24 hours. Use all of them in a poem.
* “Poetry is a slipknot tightened around a time-beat of one thought, two thoughts, and a last interweaving thought there is not yet a number for. ” ~Carl Sandburg
* HUGO CHALLENGE: kerfuffle, inchoate, velveteen, petrichor, mourning, verdigris, verdant ( list via Lilah Johnson)
Bonus: use Harry DeWulf’s Random Poetical Form Generator to create “rules” for your next poem. Follow the rules.
